Last week, Indigenous Science founder Dr. Yolanda Lopez-Maldonado attended several important events in Dakar, Senegal.

As part of the ongoing Water strategy, she first participated as panellist in the Dakar Water Diplomacy Symposium 2026 in the Session 3: Collective priorities for the UN Water Conference 2026; organised by the Woman in Water Diplomacy Network, the 24th January.

On the 25th January, she participated on the UN One-Day Stakeholder Meeting: Enhancing Action through Collaboration as co-facilitator in the Interactive Dialogue 2, convened by UN DESA.

Next, she actively participated in the Dakar High-Level Preparatory Meeting for the UN Water Conference 2026, the 26-27th January. As High-Level Panellist on the Round Table Water for Cooperation, she posited the importance of Indigenous Peoples Knowledge and Science for a just and sustainable water future.

A huge thank you to all funders and partners for their continued support!
